HOW TO NOMINATE SOMEONE

Youseum award nominations can be made at any time. You can submit a nomination within a category ( Solar, Knack, Zig, Mettle, You) or choose to let the Youseum fit the nomination into a category. Length should be around 250 words or less, and the Youseum is happy to help you compose the nomination if you wish to have their assistance. Nominators and nominees are 18 years or older. The Youseum board meets yearly to review and vote on received nominations.

-Supply your name and contact information and the same for the person being nominated. [NOTE: You may nominate someone whose name you do not know --just refer to them in the context that you know them (ie. the Shop Keeper, the receptionist, etc). If they do receive a Youseum award at that point you may approach them for the full information].

Please keep the nomination SECRET from the person you are nominating— in the event that they are selected it will be a wonderful surprise, and if not, they will not be disappointed. Please contact the Youseum if you would like assistance in putting your nominations together. Once the nomination is submitted you will be contacted as to the review date, and you will be contacted if your nomination is selected. Nominations can be resubmitted yearly. If your nomination is selected the person nominated will be contacted by the Youseum to review the statement, provide a photo of themselves, and sign an acceptance form to allow us to use the statement and photo on the web and in publicity.

Description of the Five Youseum Recognition Awards
The Youseum Awards are designed to inspire a new awareness and appreciation of events or traits that are not normally acknowledged or rewarded, but that have merit and are examples of courage, creativity, strength or wit. The five awards acknowledge worthy efforts in a variety of categories, focusing on emotional and personal development and achievement in unexpected and untraditional ways. Candidates for the Youseum awards are not routinely in the public eye and would not ordinarily expect acknowledgement for these particular situations, traits or activities.

The Solar Award
Awarded to an individual who radiates warmth, cheer, or happiness and is a comfort or joy to those around them.

The Knack Award
Awarded to someone who empowers others or maintains something that benefits others, but whose praiseworthy ability and hard work may be unacknowledged.

The Zig Award
Awarded to an individual where a sharp alteration or change of direction in life, career or situation has prompted creative or courageous ways of coping.

The Mettle Award
Awarded to an individual who has shown the courage to take what action is needed in a difficult situation.

The You Award
Awarded to an individual who merits positive acknowledgement ...an award for just being you.
