Faith Rovinsky, RECIPIENT OF THE 2007 SOLAR AWARD NOMINATOR'S STATEMENT You might be surprised to see her so bubbly considering Faith has overcome many obstacles. After 25 years in an abusive marriage her husband abandoned her with an 18 month old baby. Since then Faith’s 5 children and 14 grandchildren have kept her hopping. Their issues and problems have been overwhelming, even unbearable at times. Her eldest son is deaf and one of her grandson’s has a seizure disorder. At one point in her life Faith overcame homeless. She also overcame obesity and lost over 200 pounds. Her faith and humor in spite of challenges and turmoil are an inspiration to those around her. She has taken her pain and turned it into a compassionate and kind heart. Faith was able to put herself through college and now works with the mentally ill as a Counselor. She is very creative and gifted in art and ceramics. You will often see her singing at work, in her beautiful voice, or playfully dancing in the halls. She does volunteer work at her church as well as singing in the choir and performing in holiday plays. She is quick to make friends wherever she goes and others are drawn to her enthusiasm and her child like ardor. She always has a hug to spare, if you need one. Faith is a wonderful example of empathy, warmth and kindness in the face of fear and insurmountable struggles. Her favorite things are fairies and butterflies. I can see why-- the freedom and magic of fairies reflect her own whimsy and playfulness and the metamorphosis of the butterfly mirrors her own amazing physical transformation. She is a marvelous example of letting life’s challenges make her better, not bitter. She truly radiates all a Solar recipient should. 2008 The Solar Award Recipient 2006 The Solar Award Recipient 2005 The Solar Award Recipient 2004 The Solar Award Recipient
