Jacquie Kimball, RECIPIENT OF THE 2005 SOLAR AWARD

NOMINATOR'S STATEMENT
Jacquie Kimball has been an eager and dedicated volunteer throughout her adult life. A long-time volunteer at Winterthur, Jacquie has spent tireless hours organizing and keeping files for the Decorative Arts Photographic Collection (DAPC) at the Winterthur Library. But this is only one of her many activities. Jacquie volunteers just about every day of the week for one organization or another-for her church, for her community, for her husband's interests and her own. Jacquie's abilities go beyond her formal education; they help her identify the core needs of any project and organize it to benefit its users.

For DAPC, Jacquie organizes access to craftsmen's and object files by creating and updating finding aids, adding information, cross-referencing entries, and rehousing fragile materials. She has given twenty-five years of voluntary service to Winterthur.

For her community, Jacquie helps annually with the Italian Festival, manning the information booth and helping visitors find what they want.

For her husband, Jacquie handles the books for and serves on the board of his favorite recreational club.

Her cheery dedication is contagious, carrying along any who come in contact with her. Her commitment is legendary. Two weeks after she suffered a major heart attack several years ago, she was back at her volunteer activities.
